Palais Daun-Kinsky is a grand city mansion located
at Freyung and is one of Vienna´s most impressive buildings
in terms of art history. Built between 1713 and 1716 for Philipp
Laurenz, Count Daun, it is a gem of baroque architecture which
was hailed for its artistic finesse right from the outset.
Each of the European artists who worked on the construction
and interior of the mansion was a virtuoso in his respective
field. Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt was one of the most renowned
architects of his time. The marvellous stucco decor was the
work of the highly-esteemed Alberto Camesina and the breathtaking
ceiling fresco crowning the grand staircase was created by
Carlo Innocenzo Carlone, who also crafted the magnificent
ceiling painting in the Ovaler Festsaal together with Marcantonio
Chiarini.
